What a day!
On Saturday, Devilbend Golf Club proudly celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a spectacular Golden Ball Golf Day, and what an event it was. With 150 players all teeing off in unison for a full shotgun start, the course was alive with energy, camaraderie, and golden moments from start to finish.
Players tackled 20 holes, with a special layout that included the additional 10A hole and a fun putting challenge on the practice green—adding a unique and entertaining twist to the day.
While there was some concern that the large field might lead to a long round, the pace of play was fantastic, with all players finishing and back in the clubhouse within 4 hours and 45 minutes—a great effort by all involved.
A massive thank you goes to the Organising Committee—Geoffrey Wilkins, Laurie Leyden, Kevin Stokes, and the late Les Gorton—whose contributions and planning brought this milestone event to life.
We’re also incredibly grateful to our staff team who helped make the day run smoothly:
- Trevor and Jamie for setting up the course beautifully
- Nathan, Rupert, Jack and Grant for holding things down in the Pro Shop
- And of course, Jess and Sue, who kept everyone well-fed and hydrated throughout the day
