Devilbend Update

Dear Members,

I hope you all had a happy Easter and Anzac weekend.

We reached a very significant milestone last week with our membership breaking the 500 barrier for the first time in over 10 years. The last time we were over 500 was in late 2009. This is a great milestone and we now set our sights on 600 which is certainly achievable. So please continue to welcome any new members and show them our true Devilbend Character and spirit.

Invoices will be emailed to members whose fees fall due on the first of June. For those that pay via direct debit please remember that the first installment always contains the insurance and affiliation component. Please let me know if you do not wish to continue your direct debit payment otherwise it will automatically rollover.

As you may have noticed we have a number of new staff that has started with us over the past month in both the Pro Shop and the Bar. It is very important that all members have their membership card on them at all times, staff has been instructed to ask members for their card for all purchases that are not cash. Your co-operation will be greatly appreciated.

All members receive a driving range card when they renew their membership which entitles them to complimentary tokens for driving range balls. Once this is completed members can purchase a token for just $5 dollars.

Golf Australia updated its advice to golf clubs this week regarding the latest Covid 19 restrictions. Click on the link below for the latest information.

Finally, there have been a number of questions regarding our Sponsor Acknowledgement Day of which we have 10 a year split between Wednesdays and Saturdays. The extra $5 enables the club to give some significant prizes and helps move stock in the Pro Shop keeping the stock fresh for all members. In addition to the extra prizes on offer, we acknowledge some of our loyal sponsors who will donate products as an add-on to the prize pool of the day. These donated prizes are not included in the $15 and are an added bonus. As you can see in the picture below the photo shows all the products donated by Robert Oatley. The prizes for the competition of the day were added to this. These events will generally be run as a team event and are designed to generate a bit of fun and atmosphere to the club. I hope this clears up most of the questions.

Our next sponsor's acknowledgment day is on Wednesday 18th of May. We appreciate all our members entering all these events and supporting the golf club.

Working Bee next week

The groundstaff are beginning some drainage work on the 2nd and 9th holes next week and would love some help from anyone that is free. If you would like to help just show up between 8am and 1pm on Monday through to Thursday and the staff will have a number of tasks for you. Trevor has mentioned that the tasks are not hard yakka and anyone can perform them.

If you would like to help check into the Pro Shop on any of the 4 days and the staff will steer you in the right direction.

Devilbend App

Hopefully, all members have had the opportunity to download the all-new Devilbend App.

The App is designed to make it easier for you to make bookings and stay in touch with the golf club from within your pocket.

We are still in the process of adding more content and welcome any feedback that may make the member experience even better.

If you need any help installing the App or navigating through how it works please see any of the staff and they will steer you in the right direction.

Course Care

The Correct Way To Repair A Pitch Mark Is....

1. Insert repair tool just outside the back of the ball mark. Pull the turf towards the centre of the hole. Repeat this same motion on all sides of the hole.

2. Gently tap the repaired area with you putter.

3. This action stretches undamaged turf over the ball mark providing instant recovery.

The In-Correct Way To Repair A Pitch Mark Is....

1. DO NOT pry up the centre of the depression with repair tool as it exposes the soil and will delay the healing process.

2. DO NOT insert repair tool and twist it. This only breaks more turf loose.

3. A Pitch Mark takes only 15-30 seconds to fix correctly, a Pitch Mark in-correctly repaired takes over 3 weeks to heal.
